Another 2009 Miss Teen Canada – World Finalist

School.

December 08, 2011

Sitting here in class after a pretty stressful and crappy day just waiting for the day to be done.

Isn't it funny how some things can just stress you out so much? Today i had a test that was only worth 10 percent of my grade, and it was hard as hell, and I let it wreck my whole morning.

Why do we stress the small stuff so much? Obviously education is important, but it shouldn't be to the extent that we let it. We all just need to take a few deep breaths a breath, which would probably help it all make much more sense. I think that's why I decided to start blogging again. Its a good way to start clearing my head and an easy way to vent I guess.

On another note, today is definitely one of those days where you need a drink. A nice glass of wine perhaps? I wish, Christmas party tonight, but i guess that will do :) yummy supper too! It really erks me in class when your trying your hardest to do something and the people behind you nevvvveeerr stop talking, not that i am doing anything important now, but before I was. trying my hardest and all you hear is blah blah blah behind you. then you turn your music up super loud to try and drown them out, but you get in trouble for blasting it. ahhhh ill never win.

Well those are my two cents for the day. only and hour and a half left for class and then get to go home and try and beautify myself and then out tonight!

until next time ;)

Blog assignment #3

July 18, 2009

Well everyone, this is my third and final blog assignment. Miss Teen Canada-World marks us on our blogs and how we present them. This assignment is probably the most important in my eyes because its about Free The Children. below you will find my picture, and my piece of writing.

In this assignment we were asked to go to the Free The Children website, (www.freethechildren.com) and then choose a photo from the Media Room www.freethechildren.com/mediaroom/index.php that we thought was the most powerful in the gallery, above is the photo i selected. The purpose of this organization is to help remove child poverty, and give children a chance at a better life. It helps them to see that there is opportuities out there, and that people are always there looking out for them when the may have given up or feel powerless. I chose this picture because it represents determination and happiness. Here is a group of children who have been given the gift of education, and are holding on to each and every moment of it. You can see how happy they are, and how much this means to them. Its because of the charity that these children have been given this gift, and are now able to obtain so much more out of life then they thought was possible. This picture reminds me of Free The Children. All the children in the class room are working together and leanring more and more each day, just like the people who work together to give these children all the nessecities that they need. Looking at this picture brings a smile to your face, knowing that everyone is helping out to give children who suffer from poverty all the privledges that they deserve to have.

Being apart of Miss Teen Canada allows you to have that gift. You know that in some way you helped bring a smile to these childrens faces, along with all the other people in the world. You never know how bad these children really have it; if they have food, a home, or even a family. Its because of Free The Children, and all the people that help that these childrens lives are bettered everyday, and have the opportunity to have education in their lives. Nothing else in these childrens lives matter right now, no matter how bad they are suffering. They are greatful, and very thankful for this moment, and are living every bit of it while they can. Everything we do for these children in this picture brightens their lives in every was possible and they know that no matter what happens, people all over the world are they behind them every step of the way.

one more dayy!

MTC-W Blog assigment #2

Calgary Alberta is located in the foothills of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains and is at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers. Calgary has a population of over 1,042,892 people, all of whom come from diverse backgrounds. Just walking down one of the many streets of Calgary, you meet many people from many different cultures. I believe this is one of the reasons that Calgary is one of the highest ranked cities in Canada.

Calgary is very volunteer oriented, as many of the programs revolve simply around young and old citizens donating their time and effort towards the building of a better society. In such case as the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank of which only has 10 full time employees, all the other help is youth donating their extra time into a proactive center.

There are many amazing things to do when you are in Calgary, such as go to one of the famous galas at the Palliser Hotel, or in the summer stop by the Calgary Stampede, known worldwide as the greatest show on earth! The sports games in Calgary are amazing. There is so much spirit and happiness in the crowd, that you can’t help but feel like you’re part of a large diverse family of strangers. The parades and festivals are absolutely stunning, they are bright and dynamic, filled with the most quirky things you could ever see! My favorite festival, is the Lilac Festival, because there is a parade for the children, and booths set up along the entire street! There truly is something for everyone’s different tastes! For children, the Calgary Science Center is an interactive and fun way to learn about physics, mechanics, and more! For adults, stop by the Devonian Gardens, which is a beautiful indoor garden situated in TD Square shopping centre. For the nature lover, hop on one of our amazing riverfront bike paths, twisting on the outside of Calgary to the center of thrilling downtown. Outside of Calgary, there are many amazing opportunities such as horse back riding through the Rocky Mountains, Nature walks through the mountain ranges, and fishing in the large lakes surrounding Calgary.

This city is filled with very athletic and determined citizens. Many visitors to Calgary are surprised when on a summers day they drive down the street at lunch and see the bike and running paths packed with workers on their break. Not only is Calgary and amusing place for every member of the family, it also is filled with rich history such as COP or Canada Olympic Park, Calgary was the first Canadian city to ever host the Olympic games and up to this day, Canadian winter athletes still train at the Park.

This amazing city was named by Col. James Macleod of the Northwest Mounted Police. It was named after Calgary Bay on the Isle of Mull on the Scottish West Coast, and was a port for poor refugees heading for North America. Calgary has expanded drastically since then, and is one of the frontrunners in the Oil & Gas industry.

One of my favorite things about Calgary, are all the secret places that only real locals in Calgary would know about. The small stores in the shadows of the much larger department stores, always have the best deals, and the most unique items. The small cafés such as Sola’s on 17th Avenue SW always serve the best desert crepes that melt in your mouth. Some of the oldest neighborhoods have the most character and best ice cream shops such as My Favourite Ice Cream in the community of Altadore. I am proud of my city, and of all that we have to offer, Calgary is truly my home, as I will always be a Calgarian at heart.

MY second post! :)

May 28, 2009

So i am kinda new to the whole blogging thing, but i am going to try my best!

this experience has been amazing so far. I have got to meet so many amazing people.

I dont think that a lot of people realize how amazing getting to do experiences like this really is. Its sometimes sterotyped for having bratty mean girls, but thats not the case AT ALL. it changes you as a person. You get to show everyone who you are, how much you love where you are from, and everything you are good at.

I love this. and everything it has to offer. The Best part is having people look up to you, like your someone really special and magnifiscent. Its great to be able to encourage little girls to chase their dreams and follow their hearts.

Well now you guys know how much this all means to me!

haha

now here is a bit about myself. I come from the small town of Pilger Saskatchewan. Population-70:). I love it here. Everyone knowing each other, it makes you feel so safe.

I love to draw. It makes me who i am as a person, and it makes me able to express myself. I also love acting. I have stared in lots of my schools productions. I am not the typical girlie girl either. I love getting diry. I couldnt imagine not being able to dirt bike and ski doo and all of those things.

I wanna wish all t he girls luck! and i can't wait to meet all of you  in Toronto!
